Enamel on the sheet metal is a unique technique of paintings
that are burnt at the temperature up to 1000 degrees of Celsius.
Although the technique has its origins back in ancient times it is not
very popular nowadays.
Usually we associate the enamels with small jewelry forms,
as a material to encrust jewelry, decorative elements in doing clocks.
Only few artists in the world do the enamels on the sheet metal.
In Poland father and daughter, Marian and Bogna Jarzemski
are the pioneers of this wonderful and difficult technique.
Paintings in enamel on the sheet metal of Bogna Jarzemska
represent the series of paintings covered with colored glazes,
burnt at high temperatures.
The creative process is extremely time-consuming and demanding
a powerful technical support. Colors when placed in the oven
completely differs from that when you remove it.
Already in the first steps of the enamel work the end result should
be anticipated. Enamel itself creates around the painting
an alchemical aura.
In developing my own creative enamel I am obliged to strictly
comply with the principles of technology process in the work
of artistic expression. It is real and widely understood luxury to get
to know the intricacies of this extraordinary technology.
Enamel is a technique of architectural painting. It is resistant
to the external factor such as moisture, corrosion, temperature
and chemicals.
The process of burning, that is the permanent fusion of enamel
with metal, protects enamel against the above-mentioned damages.
Only the mechanical damages can cause enamel to chip off.
Enamels can be successfully used on facades, in gardens, arbors, public buildings, swimming pool places.
Enamel is a material that is cleaned easily with versatile chemicals.
My biggest project of enamel on the sheet metal was large painting
consisting of 54 items measuring 4m 60cm wide and 3m 10cm
in height made for Mercedes-Benz showroom, entitled
"All roads lead to ...". The work was presented at the headquarters
of Mercedes Benz in Warsaw.
For several years I create my own art projects combining enamel
with other materials such as wood creating original wood furniture
for various purposes. My enamels decorate fireplaces creating new
dimension in painting and decoration of fireplaces.
